The Kidz First Project Initiative is a collective program geared towards supporting the Community, Families and our Children
Kidz First Project was established in July 2017, by founder Sheri Allen, for her efforts and years of volunteer experience as an Outreach/Parent Partner for Blankenburg Elementary School. Ms. Allen’ s passion for Children in the community also allowed room for her project partners Daneen Little, and Son, Sean “Shiz” R to join her in the mission. The vision and mission, is to provide and educate Youth with “Gun Violence Drug Prevention”, focusing on what their future, and the importance of giving back to their community.
Our service partners in the community includes Christian Stronghold Baptist Church, Alpha CDC, West Philadelphia Prevention Coalition, Blankenburg Elementary School, School Of The Future, Sickwise, Verity Home Health, “The U-City Arts Foundation” “The Black Corner” and neighboring Daycare Centers and community entities. We have serviced the community for many years during the holiday season, with food baskets, toys and clothing for the youth and families in need. We have given Scholarships to two students who demonstrated scholastic achievement along with Community Service in the amount of 500$ each to support their freshman year graduating from School of the Future.
Kidz First Project has been very instrumental with W.P.P.C (West Philadelphia Prevention Coalition). Ms Allen, held the title of Chairperson of the Coalition from 2015-2018 and worked with the youth in the community attending Prevention conferences in Washington DC and Florida. Our Youth also worked with The United Block Captains Association assisting with Toy Giveaways and serving Thanksgiving Dinner to our neighboring seniors.
Gun Violence has crippled our children our families and our mostly our community. Many children have lost friends, classmates and neighbors due to Gun Violence, with many funerals, for our children are so traumatized and they have no resources to help them cope.
Our Youth are starting to feel that there is no hope to the Violence they are in the middle of each and every day, for this has become the new normal. We have youth in our community that are living under unsafe and poverty stricken conditions, which also helps with the uncontrolled Gun Violence in our neighborhoods. The Gun Violence has separated families to the point of sending their children to other towns and states to keep them safe.
Our Mission for “Kidz First Project“ is to bring more awareness through voices from others, whom have been victimized and also aggressed, so that they can understand the outcome of being “Behind The Gunfire”. We are connecting with platform community leaders along with talking to neighboring youth, families, and attending neighboring elementary and high school pertaining to the Gun Violence here in Philadelphia.
